My class at school is planning a St. Patricks Day party for the Veteran’s at our local Veteran’s Home. What are some creative, St Patricks Day-themed activities we can do with them? Keep in mind we are on a limited budget.
Sew bean bags to look like gold pieces. Toss into a "pot of gold".
Paint blarney stones.
Put on a skit for them. You can designate someone to tell an irish folk tale. A trio or quartet can sign an irish tune…. always fun to add a bit of humor to these. Anyone know how to do the jig? Invite someone who does…. perhaps one of the residents will know. Make up some Irish commercials too.
Bring pre-baked and cut-out shamrock shaped cookies and let them ice and decorate their own.
Serve green foods.

Do a potluck. Just not, please, corned beef and cabbage. I lived in Ireland until I was twelve, and never ate that crap. Look around for an Irish dance school (they’re all over, you just don’t know it), and see if you can take lessons to learn a light-shoe dance to perform. Some of the eight or sixteen hand dances are pretty easy.

What about Bingo? You could use green buttons for markers or have green prizes, like lotion in a green bottle or something like that.

There are many things that are very simple, and inexpensive that you can do. Homemade cards are nice. You can write poetry, draw pictures for them. Small jesters like that can be a great blessing, and a good deal of encouragement. Also, tell them you apperciate them. Everyone wants to know they’re apperciated. May be you coud make a poster that tells them,"Happy St. Patricks Day," and have all your friends sign it. Good luck
