I’ve seen this expression on St. Patrick’s Day decorations since I was a little girl, but,no one has ever told me what it meant.I’ve asked some people over the years, but, most have told me that they didn’t know what it meant.Does it have anything to do with St. Patrick’s Day at all?
The correct spelling should be “Éirinn go Brách” which means ‘Ireland Forever’
It comes from the motto written on the Green Flag of Ireland, an unofficial green flag with a harp on it, used by the supporters of Home Rule from 1798 until 1918.
The spelling varies on different flags from that time. Erin go Bra is another version.
“Erin” is the Anglicized spelling of the Irish word “Éirinn”. and both words ‘bragh’ and ‘bra’ do not exist in the Irish language. The word ‘brá’ with an accent means captive or hostage so it is not likely that this was meant.

I want to know what I would need for a St. Patricks day party with kids around 13 years old. Also activities and maybe snacks ect.
Pick up bags of gold chocolate coins as favours, or just to scatter around. Have kids tie-dye t-shirts. Let them bake & decorate butter cookies in theme shapes. Send them on a scavenger hunt for elven boots/fairy wings, etc. that you’ve hidden (try the miniature crafts section at Michael’s or A.C. Moore). Compile a list of facts about elves etc., another one about Ireland and a Gaelic pronunciation sheet. Snacks: Irish potato candy, scones with toppings (strawberry jam, clotted cream, butter), Irish soda bread, chicken pot pies, lamb stew. Apple cider would be a great quaff. Have fun!
I have a group of 30 girls. I’d like to make something nice, a keepsake of some sort, not something that’s going to get thrown in the garbage the minute they get home. We don’t have a huge budget but can be a bit flexible with pricing. Thank you!
Get a few different green colors of polymer clay at the craft store and the pinbacks. You have to warm and work the clay in your hands to get it conditioned enough to roll it out thin, maybe 1/8 inch. Make three clovers, each in a different color, and then kind of overlap them in a pleasing way, then bake the clay according to package directions and glue them on the pinbacking using superglue gel. You could get several out of one package, and they only run about $2 a package. Now they have a keepsake pin. There are little cutters for the polymer clay that come in different shapes that could help you with the clovers, though I don’t think they would be hard. You could also use a barrette back and make a barrette with the clovers, but the pin could be worn past the barrette stage if desired.
