I work at a daycare and wanted to do something kewl for saint patricks day on wednesday. I work with 3-5 year olds and was thinking about doing something with pudding. Do you guys have any ideas about cooking that i could relate to st.patricks day. It doesnt have to be pudding but if you have any ideas that i could use with pudding that would be good. Thanks a bunch

PUDDING IDEAS…
GREEN PISTACHIO FINGER PAINT
You can use green pistachio instant pudding to fingerprint on a large piece of paper.
You can stop there or extend it! When it is dry, cut it out in the shape of a large shamrock and glue a colored picture of a leprechaun in the middle.

LEPRECHAUN PUDDING #1
Ingredients:
♣ For every five children use one 1-ounce box of instant pistachio pudding.
♣ Per child use 1/2 cup of milk and 1 small resealable plastic bag
♣ Need 1/2 cup measuring cup and spoon
♣ Put tablespoon of pudding mix in sandwich bag and milk, then close the baggy and have kids shake and squeeze. Eat! Enjoy!
LEPRECHAUN PUDDING #2
(Made in individual small jars)
Need:
Instant pistachio pudding, small jars with lids, spoons, milk
1. Place 1 tablespoon of pudding mix into a jar (1 for jar for each child)
2. Add 1/4 cup cold milk –adding the milk makes the instant pudding turn green.
3. Place lid on tightly and have children shake away until the pudding is made

If you are making pudding, tell th children you have MAGIC LEPRECHAUN POWDER
♣ Buy instant pistachio pudding. Take it out of the box so it is in the plain white wrapper. Before you start an activity teach the kids…(adapt the words to fit you activity)
Magic Leprechaun Powder filled with gold…
Add a little milk (4 cups) icy cold.
Give it a stir and watch the surprise …
Presto! It changes right before your eyes!

make play dough (made with peanut butter) and put green food coloring in it. then the kids can make different figures out of it and then they can eat it when they are done. it’s easy and the kids can actually make it themselves

There are lots of ideas at the Makes and Takes website this week. Also I contributed an activity over at Quirky Momma that involves kids using candy rather than dye to mix colors to tint vanilla pudding green (or milkshakes, smoothies, applesauce, etc.). The method I describe is not as messy as using liquid food coloring. Mixing the colors themselves is fun, plus my kids don’t care for the flavor of pistachio pudding.
